Ministry of Agriculture: Price rise of meat has artificial character in Azerbaijan

Price rise of meat has artificial character and is not connected with economic factors, head of the department of animal husbandry of the Agriculture Ministry Chingiz Farajov said.

To him, currently, there are above 2 mln 600 thousand cattle in Azerbaijan: “If there are 2.6 mln cattle in one country, which is not so big, then no lack can exist there”.

Farajov noted that no shortage was felt neither in Baku no in the regions of the country: “Today, there is enough meat at supermarkets. If we can buy meat at any time we want, then what shortage can we speak about?”

He added that the situation related to price rise of meat was discussed at the meeting of state bodies engaged in this sphere: “Sharp price rise of meat is artificial. I think that appropriate organizations must investigate this issue”.
