23 June 2011 [19:00] - TODAY.AZ
The Georgian Union of Oil Producers, Importers and Consumers and the Monitoring Oil Products Certification Authority held joint monitoring of the quality of regular gasoline and I-62 diesel imported from Azerbaijan by SOCAR Energy Georgia in June.

SOCAR Energy Georgia represents the interests of SOCAR in Georgia.

Monitoring was held especially for the summer season, when fuel consumption increases due to start of vacation season. Inspections were carried out throughout Georgia.

The inspections found that regular gasoline (A B-91) has an octane number of 93-93.5, which is higher than the required standard.

Gasoline contains virtually no lead - 0.0009-0.001 (under current law the lead content should not exceed 0.013 units), aromatic hydrocarbons content hits 25.030 percent (under current requirements - no more than 45 percent); benzene content- 0.9-1 percent (under the existing requirements - no more than 5 percent); sulfur content - 150 units (under the existing requirements - no more than 500 units).

The inspections focused on the water content in diesel fuel.
