Cost of bridge over Baku bay announced

According to the initial data, the construction cost of the bridge to be built over the Baku bay will be worth $1.8 bln, department head of economy and transport policy of the Azerbaijani Transport Ministry Sadraddin Mammadov said.

According to him, till the end of the next month, Korean company Dongsung Engineering  will present a feasibility study of the new bridge and the presentation of the project to the ministry. Then, the project will be submitted to the government.

If approved, an international consortium, working under principle building-operation-transfer, will be formed which will envisage investing in the development, projection, construction and exploitation of the bridge.
 
Mammadov added that the investment from the Azerbaijani side is not considered yet. The project development process may take two-three years while the construction itself – three years, Mammadov concluded.
