
In the coming three years, all motor ways in Azerbaijan will be reconstructed in accordance with the international standards, Azerbaijani Minister of Transport Ziya Mammadov said at the TransCaspian Azerbaijan – 2011 exhibition.
To him, this process will help to grow volume of transportation via the country. It will increase Azerbaijan’s international and regional transit importance, play an important role in increase of foreign trade turnover.
Speaking about seaport to be constructed in Alat, the minister said that the first stage of the projects was expected to finish within 3 years: "And it will play a special role in increase of transportation via the country’s territory".
Mammadov said that Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project was expected to finish until the end of 2012: "At present, if we take motor and railways constructed under Bosporus Strait into account, Baku-Tbilisi-Kars project will join Azerbaijan to Europe directly".
