Azerbaijan to export oil products to Eastern European countries

Azerbaijan is one of the countries which is ready to meet the Europe’s demand for energy resources, SOCAR deputy vice-president Vitali Baylarbayov informed.

According to him, 50% of GDP in Azerbaijan is formed on the account of industrial sector. 51 mln tons of oil and 29 bcm of gas was extracted last year, in Azerbaijan. Most of produced products were exported to foreign markets.

According to Baylarbayov, 80% of Georgia’s oil market belongs to export in Azerbaijan: "At the same time, Poland, Lithuania and Ukraine interest in development of Eurasia corridor for transportation of energy carriers".

SOCAR official stressed that, SOCAR has strong positions in Mediterranean Sea market: "45% of oil is sold in Mediterranean Sea, 20% - in North Africa. We’ll able to access to Belarus market, after export to Ukraine. Our later purpose is to export crude oil to the states like Czech, Slovakia and Hungary. These plans may be realized by 2015".

Speaking about SOCAR’s assets Baylarbayov noted that, the company constructed petrol stations network in Georgia, Ukraine and Romania, at the same time, exported energy products to Turkey, Russia, Georgia and Iran.

He added that, Azerbaijani government intends to move the plants outside the city and the implementation of this project will be completed by 2015.
