Regular cargo flights in route Baku-Milan-Baku launched

Milan's Malpensa airport hosted the official opening of a new Baku-Milan-Baku cargo flights operating from May 23 with a Boeing B747-400F, the Azerbaijani embassy in Italy reported.

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Italy Vagif Sadikhov, Azerbaijan's honorary consul to Genoa and Liguria Margarita Costa, Silk Way Holding President Zaur Akhundov, SEA, Malpensa / Linate Airports - Aviation Marketing Manager Aldo Schmid and AZAL General Manager Ibrahim Seyidov attended the ceremony.

Speaking at the event, Sadikhov expressed confidence that the launch of the regular Baku-Milan-Baku cargo flight will contribute not only in trade relations between Azerbaijan and Italy, but also in the development of trade relations throughout the region. He noted that Azerbaijan has a strong economy and moves towards building a democratic state.

A banquet was given in honor of the guests after the ceremony. Mugham singer Gochag Askerov and trio of Mugam performed folk music for the participants at the ceremony’s cultural part organized by the Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Ministry and the embassy.

Then the ceremony continued at the airstrip, and the Boeing B747-400F performing the first regular flight en route Baku-Milan-Baku triumphantly landed at the Italian airport. Sadikhov cut a symbolic ribbon.

Earlier, the cargo transportation between Baku and Milan was carried out by charter flights. At first stage, the cargo transportation is planned to be carried out once a week.
