Baku hosts first meeting of Central-Eurasian Bank Federation

By the participation of heads of bank associations of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova and Georgia, Central-Eurasian Bank Federation (CEBF) held its first general meeting in Baku. President and vice-presidents of the federation were elected at the event.

The CEBF Board was formed of three people – Federation’s president and two vice-presidents in compliance with the proposal of ABA president Eldar Ismayilov. The CEBF Executive Secretariat was also formed of three people.

The general meeting participants also made a decision on election of ABA president Eldar Ismayilov as the CEFB president for two-year term. His vice presidents became Huseyn Aydin (president of the Turkish Banking Association) and Alexander Sugonyako (president of Ukrainian Banking Association). Yunus Abdulov was appointed executive secretary for 1 year.

As a result of the general meeting, CEFB Declaration was adopted. According to this document, main duties of the organization are – to deepening of mutual effective cooperation between the bank associations of regional countries, help development of the trade-economic, industrial, scientific and technical cooperation and investment cooperation, support currency-credit policy realized on the basis of international standards pursued by the banks of regional countries and other credit organizations.

It was noted that, in 2011-2012, CEFB will direct its activity to provide a basis for accompanying of goods, services and capital of regional countries with high-quality banking services, establishment of direct relations between the banks of regional countries, exchange of financial-economic and bank details, normative-legal acts.
