Azerbaijan presents its draft for Second Investment Forum TRACECA

Azerbaijan Railways has presented an investment project on the reconstruction and renovation of the Baku-Boyuk Kasik railway section at a meeting of the Regional Working Group held in Tbilisi as part of the TRACECA "Idea-transport corridor", the company reported. The project aroused interest of the regional working groups.

The presentation of the investment project will be held at the Second Investment Forum TRACECA to be held in late 2011 - early 2012. The project on the reconstruction and renovation of the Baku-Boyuk Kasik railway section is part of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.

During the meeting, Azerbaijan Railways’s working group noted the importance of this project with a view to improve the competitiveness not only in Azerbaijan and the Caucasus region, but also the competitiveness of the entire TRACECA transport corridor, as well as increase its transit capacity.

TRACECA (Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia) is an international transport cooperation program between the EU and its Partner countries in Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia.

It has a permanent Secretariat in Baku, Azerbaijan. The cooperation framework covers the areas of maritime transport, aviation, road and rail, transport security and transport infrastructure.

Currently, TRACECA member countries are Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Moldova, Romania, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Iran.
