CIS representatives discuss roaming tariffs in Azerbaijan

Reducing tariffs on mobile roaming services has been considered within the 27th committee meeting of the Regional Commonwealth of Communications (RCC) on the Economy of Communications, which started in Baku today.

"The participants must determine the ways of reducing the roaming tariff and the opportunity of determining their minimum level in the CIS space," he said. "The details of this issue must be also determined, namely, pricing in this area and the methodology of calculation of tariffs in all CIS countries.

"The RCC work in this area is of recommendatory nature," he said.

"Ultimately, every country can take any steps, using the experience of others. The tariff can not be reduced unilaterally. The close cooperation between the CIS operators is necessary to reach agreements on inter-operator level."
