People engaged in retail of agricultural products in Azerbaijan will be able to increase the price of product only 15%. According to APA, it has been considered in the draft law on agricultural cooperation which is being discussed at the Parliament now.

A concrete mechanism has been considered for prevention of artificial price rise of agricultural products. According to this mechanism, wholesale base will be able to add maximum 10% on price of the product bought from farmers. But, in turn, persons engaged in retail of agricultural products may add 15% on it.

That is, retail price of agricultural products may be maximum 15% more than wholesale price. Consequently, difference between producer price and consumer price may be maximum 26.5%.

Such scheme has been considered for prevention of artificial price rise. Note that, such practice exists in several foreign countries, including Vietnam and in some states of Europe (Spain). This system will be applied in all points – fairs and markets, specialized and simple food markets.

Note that, control over prices and price rise will be conducted by local executive powers, municipalities and Agriculture Ministry. Control issues over the prices will be reflected in the sales rules to e confirmed by relevant executive powers.
