Bakcell intends to introduce 3G in summer

05 May 2011 [15:00] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijani mobile operator Bakcell will launch its 3G network in the summer, Bakcell chief commercial manager Krasimir Genov said.

Genov said the company has submitted all required documents to obtain a license for the deployment of communication services in 3G standard to the Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry.

"We have all the necessary financial and marketing tools to begin rendering telecommunications services in this standard," he said.

Azerbaijan has three mobile operators - Bakcell, Azercell and Azerfon. At present, only Azerfon has a license to render 3G telecommunications services.

However, Bakcell and Azercell have already appealed to the ministry to get the relevant document. Moreover, as the ministry said, the documents submitted by operators is incomplete, therefore the licensing process is delayed.
