Income of Azerbaijan from tourism is expected to be $1 bn this year

This year, growth tendency in Azerbaijan’s tourism sphere will continue and income in amount of nearly $900 mln – 1 bn is expected from tourist flow.

Official of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Firudin Gurbanov told that the number of tourists visiting Azerbaijan in 2010 was 1.5 million, the growth rate of tourism made 7-8%.

"A similar trend is expected to be observed this year too. In general, according to World Tourism Organization, each arriving in Azerbaijan tourist spends an average of 600-700 dollars and if it is multiplied by 1.5 million, it is possible to calculate the total amount of income".
