Minister: Catel can be transferred to the management of BTCPU and Azerfon

The first CDMA-operator in Azerbaijan - mobile phone company Catel can be transferred to the management of Baku Telephone Communications Production Union and Azerfon, Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov said.

To him, recently, technical problems appeared in Catel: "The company was supposed to solve them in early May. We intervened as a ministry and directed BTCPU and Azerfon to solve problems of Catel".

According to the minister, discussions are being currently conducted on the transfer of Catel’s fixed telecommunications network to management of BTCPU, mobile phone network to Azerfon: "In the near future, Catel subscribers can use the network. Also, issue on granting compensation to subscribers is being considered as well".

Catel has been operating since 1997.
