AZAL: Situation in Middle East and North Africa affects cost of tickets to Turkey

Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) Spokesman Maharram Safarli identified events in the Arab world as affecting tourist inflow to Turkey, which resulted in the overall increase in ticket prices in Turkish flights.

"Many airlines have raised prices for flights to Turkey due to the situation in the Middle East and North Africa, as the flow of tourists was redirected toward the Turkish resorts," Safarli said.

He said the higher company prices for seasonal flights toward Antalya and Bodrum are also related to the airline upgrading its fleet.

"There have been significant changes in fuel costs at the Turkish airports. The figure was $450-$470 per ton in 2010 and today the figure is already $1,000", Safarli said.

Safarli said all these factors impact the ticket prices to the Turkish resort towns.

Earlier, (AZAL) resumed seasonal direct flights en-route to Baku-Antalya and Baku-Bodrum, the company reported. Roundtrip airfare is 535 manat and 530 manat, respectively.
