New rules for tourism facility registration will come into force in Azerbaijan on May 1, Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Ministry Tourism Sector Department Chief Aydin Ismiyev told journalists on Wednesday.
"Tourism companies will be included in the register of the Justice Ministry," Ismiyev said.
So far, tourism facilities were registered in the Tax Ministry.
He said these companies will be monitored by the Culture and Tourism Ministry.
The Azerbaijani Travel Agencies Association (AZTA) started monitoring tourism companies on Feb. 28 jointly with the Culture and Tourism Ministry and Economic Development Ministry.
According to the preliminary results of the monitoring, a number of tourism companies operating without a special license to render tourism services have been revealed in Baku.
Monitoring will be conducted in each tourism companies operating in the country. There are 207 tourism companies in the country
The monitoring’s main goal is to identify tourism companies operating without a license.
The subject of monitoring will be quality of tourism services.
Companies that do not meet the ministry's requirements will be eliminated, AZTA head Nahid Bagirov said earlier.
Tourism objects operating in the country's regions will also be monitored.
