
The construction of the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway, which was suspended due to the winter conditions, has been resumed and will reportedly be hastened, according to deputy minister of transport of Azerbaijan Musa Panahov.
The major part of construction works on Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway will be completed this year. The modernization of the existing railway line from Marabda west to Akhalkalaki is also on agenda. Azerinshaatservice (Azerbaijan) is undertaking the construction work at the Georgian part of the railroad.
The Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway is a regional rail link project to directly connect Turkey, Georgia and Azerbaijan.
