Azerbaijan sees 1.6% rise in Q1 economic growth

In January-March, Gross Domestic Products rose 1.6% to AZN 10.4 bln, in Azerbaijan.

According to State Statistical Committee, AZN 5.8 bln or 55.7% of added tax was produced in industrial spheres, AZN 555.3 mln or 5.3% in construction, AZN 770.6 mln or 7.4% in transport, AZN 277.5 mln or 2.7% in agriculture, AZN 958.2 mln or 9.2% in trade and paid services spheres, AZN 194.1 mln or 1.9% in communication, AZN 1 193.4 mln or 11.4% in other spheres.

Per head GDP rose 0.3% to AZN 1 157.4 mln.

GDP rose 5.6% in non-oil sector, decreased by 1.9% in oil sector.

Note that, according to government’s forecasts, the economy is expected to rise 3.8%, in 2011. The GDP growth rate will be 2.8% according to IMF, 3.5% - according to EBRD.
