Azerigas improves gas supply in Azerbaijan

01 April 2011 [17:38] - TODAY.AZ
The gas supplied to the Azerbaijani population meets international requirements, Azerigas production association engineer Tahir Kazimov said. He said gas is supplied under a low pressure of up to 0.05 atmospheres.

"The gas supply remains constant throughout the day," he said.

The quality of gas in the country meets all standards and requirements, he said. The quality is laboratory- tested.

Work is underway to improve the gas supply in Baku and the surrounding areas, as well as throughout the country. Pipes are being replaced.

New technologies are being used. These operations will be complete soon, he said.

The main goal is to provide consumers with qualitative gas. The association’s employees regularly check gas meters at people's homes.

"This is done to prevent accidents while using gas," Kazimov said.

The operations are conducted to reduce gas losses during transportation to distribution networks. Work is underway to reduce these losses by late 2011 to a minimum.

"Pipelines are being replaced. New technological materials, such as polyethylene pipes, are being used," Kazimov said.
