Corrosion protection project of wharves started at Kulevi Oil Terminal

A corrosion protection project of wharves has started at Kulevi Oil Terminal. The implementation of such a project is caused by probability of corrosion of steel sheet piles that are used to strengthen leading constructions in a wharf.

The project planned to be carried out within the cooperation between "OilGasScientificResearchProject" Institute of SOCAR and BST engineering team. The project contains three stages: survey of steel sheet piles; estimation of electrochemical protection application and cathodic protection design; application methods and recommendations.

Recently a group of specialists from the Institute visited the Terminal and completed the first stage of the project. Institute representatives completed underwater camera survey assessment, measurement of potential difference of pile-water, measurement of specific resistance of soil, inspection of steel sheet piles and concrete wall on splash zone and taken samples of sea water.
