Ganja Car Plant changes form of ownership

27 January 2011 [12:12] - TODAY.AZ
The Ganja Car Plant was transformed in the Production Union "Ganja Car Plant" in accordance with the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers' decision. The decision to change the form of property is taken to improve its system of governance in connection with the expansion of economic activity.

Despite the change of ownership, the PU remains a state enterprise, and governed by the laws of Azerbaijan, decrees and orders of the Azerbaijani President, the decisions of the Cabinet and the approved charter.

Based on the decision, the PU will comprise three companies: Ganja Car Plant (parent company), Marketing and Service Enterprise and Special Design and Technological Bureau.

The PU will be managed by the Supervisory Board, which consists of three people. Chairman and Board members will be approved by the Cabinet. The current leadership (management) activities are carried out by the Executive Director.

The Ganja Car Plant established in 2004 assembles the products of the Minsk Tractor Plant for the domestic market. The plant will also assemble 800 units of tractors. The contract for the assembly and sale of the whole range of trucks and tractors of the Minsk automobile and tractor plants in Azerbaijan was signed in late November 2006 in Minsk.

In April this year Ganja Car Plant and the German Haller Company signed a long-term contract for the production of communal equipment based on the MAZ cars. The contract, envisaged for 10 years, involves production of MAZ trucks with equipment of Haller Company for transportation of household wastes.

Ganja Plant is capable of assembling up to 1,000 trucks and 2,000 tractors per year. The plant also assembles Belarus tractors.
