SOCAR, for the first time in the world, developed 4 nanotechnology systems based on the effect of small exposures

15 December 2010 [10:45] - TODAY.AZ
State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has approved "NANONEFT" program for 2010-2015, which envisages the use of new nano-active substances and chemical agents in the oil production, drilling, and petrochemical industries, the company said Tuesday.

The program consists of four parts devoted to oil production, drilling, petrochemistry and oil industry's environmental problems. It is based on scientific advances made since 2005. The document outlines the current situation, goals and results already achieved, as well as plans for 2010-2015 and expected sources of economic gain.

The environmental part of the program specifies measures to address such problems as utilization of reservoir water and more efficient separation of oil from sand and water at oil sludge facilities.

In order to eliminate the complications and accidents during drilling, SOCAR for the first time in the world developed four nanotechnology systems based on the effect of small exposures, says a statement by the company. New systems were successfully applied to the wells of the Gum Adasi, Bibiheybat, Balakhani, Beyimdag-Tekchay and Gunashli fields.

In the petrochemicals field 70-87% reduce of surface tension was achieved as result of nano-exposures, successes were made in preventing scaling and corrosion.
