The commercial production of kiwi fruit will be launched in Azerbaijan soon.

About 20 hectares of land has been allotted for kiwifruit orchards in country's southern Lankaran region which already shows high yield, Director of “Aladdin” horticulture enterprise Ingilab Karimov said.
The kiwi fruit market in Azerbaijan is not fully developed. Moreover, this fruit has a longer shelf life in refrigerator. It is suitable for manufacture of compotes and juices. That is why we decided to lay kiwifruit orchards in Azerbaijan, Karimov said.
“We operate in Aran and Astara-Lankaran economic regions and have 300 hectares of land planted with “kishmish” grapes, 10 hectares of land plated with Californian grapes, 50 hectares planted with apricots and 20 hectares of land planted with kiwi fruit. As it is difficult to sell fresh fruit in full, we have decided to build dried fruits plant with capacity of 2,500 tons per year,” the businessman added.
