1,272 tankers of oil shipped from Ceyhan

Botas International Limited (BIL), the operator of the Turkish part of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline (BTC), has announced details of the shipment of oil from the Ceyhan oil terminal. As of Sept. 11, 2010, a total of 1,272 tankers of crude oil have been shipped from Ceyhan since the start of oil shipment through BTC (June 2, 2006).

Nearly 998 million barrels of oil has been transported since BTC become onstream.
BTC transports oil from Azerbaijan’s "Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli”(ACG) fields and condensate from Shah-Deniz gas-condensate field in Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea. Turkmen oil also began to be piped through BTC under a deal signed in July. There is also an agreement to transport Kazakh oil via BTC.

The works to increase BTC capacity to 1.2 million barrels per day through the use of chemicals to reduce the frictional forces were completed in March 2009. BTC Co. shareholders are: BP (30,1%); AzBTC (25,00%); Chevron (8.90%); StatoilHydro (8.71%); TPAO (6.53%); ENI (5,00%); Total (5,00%), Itochu (3.40%); INPEX (2.50%), ConocoPhillips (2.50%), and Hess (2.36%).
