Gas deliveries from Azerbaijan and Russia to Turkey are carried out in a normal mode, the Turkish state pipeline company Botas said today.

A strong blast took place in a gas pipeline, transporting natural gas from Iran to Turkey in Tuesday evening in Eleshkirt in the Turkish province of Agri. The Iranian gas supply to Turkey was suspended as a result of the blast. it will be resumed in 7-8 days, Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz said.
"There are no problems on gas pipelines, gas supply is carried out in a normal mode and no complications are expected," Botas reported. According to the company, no problems will be in gas consumption due to the summer mode (declined volume).
Azerbaijan supplies gas to Turkey under contract on the Azerbaijani offshore gas-condensate field Shah Deniz. Under the contract, Turkey is to receive an annual 6.6 billion cubic meters of gas from the first stage of Shah Deniz (the field's total reserves estimated at 1.2 trillion cubic meters).
The contract to develop the offshore Shah Deniz field was signed June 4, 1996. Participants to the agreement are: BP (operator) - 25.5 percent, Statoil Hydro - 25.5 percent, NICO - 10 percent, Total - 10 percent, LukAgip - 10 percent, TPAO - 9 percent, SOCAR-10 percent.
