"Custom rate increase in Azerbaijan is not on the table"

06 July 2010 [14:27] - TODAY.AZ
“Custom rate increase in Azerbaijan is not on the table. There is no such proposal and the government also doesn’t review this issue”, chairman of the State Customs Committee Aydin Aliyev told journalists on Tuesday, according to APA.

He said volume of imports has been increased $100 000 in the past 5 months in comparison with the last year after the global economic crisis. “Indeed it can not be considered as an increase. It means that volume of imports remains unchanged and we hope that the results will be reduced gradually”.

Aydin Aliyev said customs checkpoints were restored now and the restoration work would be completed soon in Sinig Korpu, Samukh, Balakan and Astara points. “Azerbaijan is implementing a single window system in the customs sphere. This system justified itself. Many countries show great interest to the single window system”.
