Building materials prices drop in Baku

23 June 2010 [14:26] - TODAY.AZ
The Participants of Property Market Public Union monitored prices of 38 brands of building materials in Baku in May.
The monitoring revealed that building materials of domestic production hold 44.6% of the market.

“Decline in demand in building materials in may 2010 caused Darnagul market in the capital to close. This was also caused by prices dropping,” the union said.

However, prices on sand, gravel and other materials delivered from country’s regions increased due to impact of natural disasters in the regions.

At the same time, higher prices can also be attributed to restrictions imposed on the tonnage of the trucks during transport.

“But prices on most of materials have decreased by 0.9% year-on-year,” the union said in a statement.

Prices on products of 11 out of 38 brands have increased while prices on the other 11 gave decreased.

The price rise was observed for bricks (17.86%), sand (30.23%), pebbles (7.14%), boards (2.5%), pipes (3.21%), nails (8.82%), polystyrene (14.29%), wool (5%) and caatinga (2.86%).
