Global financial crisis 'had no impact' on Azerbaijan

23 June 2010 [09:56] - TODAY.AZ
Somalia's finance minister Abdurrahman Omar Osman has praised Azerbaijan's economic achievements, saying the country managed to maintain the development pace even despite the global financial crisis.
Omar Osman, who is in Baku for the 35th meeting of the Board of Directors of the Islamic Development Bank, said the crisis had no impact on Azerbaijan and its economy.

“Our delegation was impressed by the large-scaled construction work in the capital Baku. I`ve read and heard much about ancient Baku. And we feel proud to see how Baku is getting younger today.”

The Somalia minister hailed the government`s role in ensuring the country`s economic successes.

“This development was possible thanks to a far-sighted and wise economic policy of the country`s leadership.”

“We were told that Azerbaijan is not only an oil and gas producer, but that there is a large number of industrial enterprises in the country,” said the Somali minister.
