Greece ready to receive the Azerbaijani gas, which may go through this country after the signing of a transit agreement between Azerbaijan and Turkey, Chairman and Executive Director of the Greek Gas Corporation DEPA Harry Sachinis said today at the 17th International Conference "Caspian Oil and Gas", held in Baku.
"Azerbaijan (after signing the agreement on transit with Turkey) will be ready to supply gas to Europe. [...] We are ready to receive the Azerbaijani gas, but the question is, what will the amount be," Sachinis said.
Today, Greece and Turkey have connecting pipeline, through which the Azerbaijani gas can be transported.
"We are currently making efforts to join [by gas pipeline] Greece and Bulgaria," Sachinis said.
He said Greece can become the energy knot, and would like to cooperate more closely with Azerbaijan.
"Greece are a significant player, which can contribute to the Azerbaijani gas export to Europe" Sachinis said.
