SOCAR president met Swiss delegation

President of Azerbaijan's State Oil Company (SOCAR) Rovnag Abdullayev has met members of Switzerland-Azerbaijan friendship group at the Swiss parliament and members of private Swiss energy companies. Abdullayev praised the relations between the two countries, saying “SOCAR Trading, which is operating in Switzerland, is greatly contributing to this”.

He highlighted global and regional energy projects involving Azerbaijan. The SOCAR president stressed “Azerbaijan has become an important actor in the European energy security”. Touching upon the bilateral energy cooperation, Abdullayev said Azerbaijan started exporting Azeri Light crude to Switzerland since 2008.

State Secretary of Energy, Director of Swiss Federal Office of Energy Walter Steinmann said along with MPs, his delegation also includes experts from the fields of energy and science. He praised SOCAR Trading`s operations in Switzerland, saying “the country has made outstanding achievements in a short period of time”.

Azerbaijan's ambassador to Switzerland Murad Nazimoghlu and Swiss ambassador to Azerbaijan Alain Guidetti were also present at the meeting.
