29 April 2010 [13:42] - TODAY.AZ
Georgia intends to open the Agency for Promoting Georgian Investment in Azerbaijan soon, Georgian Minister of Economy Zurab Pololikashvili said in Tbilisi at the end of the Georgian-Azerbaijani business forum.

"This will be an organization similar to AZPROMO operating in Tbilisi. This group has been working in Georgia for several months. It has already proved its best side," Pololikashvili said.

The statement was made after a business forum with participation of Georgian and Azerbaijani businessmen. About 23 Azerbaijani companies arrived in Tbilisi to establish contacts with their Georgian colleagues.

Minister said that Baku has an example of successful activity of the Georgian company "Borjomi".

"This is the first step. Other Georgian companies will appear in Azerbaijan soon," he said.

Azerbaijani Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev welcomed the intention of the Georgian side and said that today there are 80 branches of Georgian companies in Azerbaijan.

"We have a good investment environment. The 70-billion-dollar investments in our country testify it since getting independence. More than half of them are foreign. All companies are satisfied with working conditions," Mustafayev said.

Pololikashvili said that Georgia has also attracted foreign investments. In 2007-2008, they amounted to $4.7 billion.

"SOCAR is seriously represented here ", Georgian foreign minister said expressing hope that the number of Azerbaijani companies and investments to Georgia will grow from year to year.
