Stavropol: Region interested in expanding economic ties with Azerbaijan

27 April 2010 [16:52] - TODAY.AZ
The establishment of economic, cultural and technical ties between Azerbaijan and the Stavropol region is the main purpose of Stavropol Governor Valery Gajewski's visit to Baku.

"Azerbaijan is an important trading partner of our region," Gajewski said. "Today, Azerbaijan is on the 3rd place in terms of the region's turnover."

If in 2008 trade was nearly $ 200 million, the figure declined slightly in 2009 due to global crisis, he added.

"We intend to work on this. Very large interests are observed in the exchange of agricultural and industrial products. We are particularly interested in the development of bilateral tourism. We have the Caucasus mineral waters Kislovodsk, Pyatigorsk and we know about your beautiful resorts on the Caspian," he added.

Gajewski pointed out the region's interest in establishing clear and mutually beneficial relations with Azerbaijan. Azerbaijani entrepreneurs and the Stavropol region will hold a business forum April 28.

The delegation will stay in Baku April 27-29.
