Romania has expressed interest in Azerbaijan's energy sector.
Romania's foreign minister Teodor Baconschi told Azeri industry and energy minister Natig Aliyev: “There is a growing interest in my country towards Azerbaijan`s oil and gas sector.”
Baconschi in particular praised Azerbaijan`s gas potential.
“Azerbaijan has turned from importer to exporter of natural gas. And it is what in particular attracts Romania`s attention,” said Baconschi.
The Romanian FM also praised Azerbaijan`s contribution to ensuring Europe`s energy security.
The Azeri energy minister in turn echoed Baconschi`s position, saying there was great potential to “deepen and expand” energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Romania.
Aliyev emphasized the role of the two countries' presidents in “bringing our bilateral cooperation to a qualitatively new level”.
