WB-Azerbaijan partnership strategy with government and NGOs to be discussed in April

04 March 2010 [10:38] - TODAY.AZ
The process of development of new Country Partnership Strategy (CPS) is still at preliminary stage.
The World Bank Group (WBG) plans to adopt new CPS instead of CPS for 2007/2010, adopted in 2006 and expanded in 2008.

The Baku-based World Bank resident office informs that the Bank is conducting now pre up stream of signal version of CPS.

"After we receive first results of pre up stream, we will be ready to launch discussion of preliminary version of the Strategy with the government and non-governmental organizations. Taking into account almost 10-day holidays in Azerbaijan this month switching to this stage of preparation will probably take place in April,” the WB office said.

Earlier WB country manager for Azerbaijan Gregory Jedrzeiczak said that in parallel with work over 4-year CPS the Bank expects from the government the list of priority projects for two years.

He preliminarily estimated CPS budget in around $1 bn for 4 years but in fact the sum would depend on program realization.

WB expects that successful projects (highway, rural, etc) within the new CPS will be continued.
