Azercell and Bakcell, mobile operators of Azerbaijan, have not been granted 3G licenses because they have not submitted the relevant documents required for obtaining a license, said Mushfig Amirov, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies.
The ministry issued a 3G license to Azerfon, country's youngest mobile operator, which said it would launch 3G services by the end of this year.
Azerbaijan’s Cabinet of Ministers has made additions to "the Requirements for Obtaining Licenses for Various Activities".
According to the Cabinet of Ministers’ decision on requirements for issuing licenses for 3G mobile services, in order to get a license to provide 3G mobile services, an applicant shall submit documents on the stages of putting the network in operation, specifications of network equipment, information on zone coverage and types of services, the experience in a 3G experimental zone, as well reference showing the possibility of using radio frequencies as approved by the State Commission for Radio Frequencies.
The license fee is AZN 11, 000.
