Azerbaijan to launch multilateral group to apply EITI

Azerbaijan's Governmental Commission on the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), local and foreign mining companies, as well as a coalition of non-governmental organizations to increase transparency in extractive industries have almost finished the paper to launch a multilateral group to implement the EITI, the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) reported.

Some paragraphs of the document will be agreed during a short time, after which the agreement will be signed, the fund reported.

The participants of the meeting discussed the tenth report on "EITI report for 2008", whose audit was conducted by Deloitte & Touche. Following the meeting, decisions were made to improve the report.
