Korea interested in supplying construction equipment to Azerbaijani market

27 August 2009 [13:55] - TODAY.AZ
The Azerbaijan-Korea business forum on ‘Export of Korean Construction Equipment’ held in Baku on Aug. 27 focused on supplying Korean construction equipment to Azerbaijani market.
The forum was attended by about 50 Korean and 100 local entrepreneurs. The forum aimed to promote trade of construction equipment in both countries by seeking new partners and expanding market.

Head of the Azerbaijan National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (ANCE) Mammad Musayev told reporters that Korea is also interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan in the field of agribusiness.

“At present, the supply of our products to Korea is much smaller than the Korean. Korea is interested in exporting Azerbaijani agricultural products, in particular, wine products, fruit, etc. We have to hold bilateral meetings with companies that operate in this sector and the confederation will assist these companies in supplying their products to the Korean market,” he added.

Musayev said Azerbaijan imports totaled about $3 billion in January-July 2009, 6 percent of which accounted for Korean goods.

Currently, talks are underway with the Korean embassy to organize a meeting of two countries’ entrepreneurs in November of this year in Korea, he said.

A memorandum of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Korea is expected to be signed during the meeting.

The business forum was organized by ANCE and Korean Association of Construction Equipment Manufacturers.
