Prices on construction materials drop in Baku

The average price of construction materials on the Baku market decreased 2.7 percent in July, the public organization Participants of Estate Market said.
The monitoring was held into 38 items and 87 varieties of construction materials, out of which a decrease was recorded on 13 items and prices remained stable on 55. Prices increased for 18 items.

"The prices fell by 6.9 percent since the start of the year and by 46.7 percent compared to the same period of 2008," the organization reported.

Considering that 14 kinds of building materials comprise a large portion of the portfolio of the Baku construction materials market, the change in their prices has led to a drop in prices.

A fall in prices was observed mainly for glue - by 28.5 percent, rubble - 5.9 per cent, nails - 5.2 percent, roofing - 8.9 percent, wood - 8.1 percent, glass - 1.2 percent and also for other materials.

A rise in prices was observed for glass wool - 28.5 percent, bitumen - 18.4 percent, quarry stone - 3.3 percent, brick - 8.1 percent, construction sand - 6.1 percent, iron layering - 4.6 percent and for other materials.

The percentage of construction materials on the market which were produced domestically was 52.9 percent in July.
