The results of the tender opened to select a company to create Azerbaijan’s first national communication satellite will be summed up next week, Azerbaijani communication minister Ali Abbasov said.

“According to estimations, the satellite may be launched in December 2011,” the minister told reporters.
The satellite will be launched as a part of the AzerSat project. Consultations are underway with Turkey, Russia, the U.S. and Ukraine on this issue.
Azerbaijan will use only 20-25 percent of satellite’s capacity and the remaining capacity will be sold.
Five companies from Russia, the U.S. and France are involved with the tender.
