Azerbaijan ready for energy security cooperation with EU

03 July 2009 [17:05] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan is ready for real cooperation in energy security with EU countries, including Romania, Azerbaijani energy minister Natiq Aliyev said at the meeting with Romania's minister of economy Adrian Videanu on July 3.

"I think that we can turn into alternative energy resources suppliers for entire Europe and can find alternative ways given Azerbaijani-Romanian relations and realization of concrete projects," Aliyev said.

Azerbaijan is interested in intensive cooperation with Romania in energy security, as well as in other spheres. Issues that can bring mutual profit can be discussed, Aliyev said.

Romania can act as transit country in energy resources supply to Europe given interest in safe development of Black Sea and Caspian Sea regions, Videanu said.

Videanu stressed during the meeting Romania's willingness to buy more Azerbaijani oil and oil products.

"Azerbaijan is friend and tried partner of Romania in the Caspian region," Videanu said.
