Azerbaijan-China business forum has been organized in Baku by the Chinese federation of industrialists and tradesmen and Azerbaijan Entrepreneurs Confederation.
A delegation of Chinese entrepreneurs has arrived on a business trip in frames of the forum to Azerbaijan.
Speaking at the event, acting president of the confederation Etibar Aliyev spoke of the economic development of Azerbaijan.
He said country's GDP grew 2.6 times in the past five years. Last year the share of the private sector in GDP made 85%, employment level in private sector 74%. He also reminded that economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and China has continued since 1992.
"Through this period our countries have signed a number of documents which plays a great role in expanding ties. Thus, last year the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and China grew three times to USD 977 mln over 2007".
The vice president of the Chinese federation of industrialists and merchants Quan Zhezhu voiced satisfaction with the economic development of Azerbaijan.
He said our countries might restore cooperation in a number of economic spheres.
"Azerbaijan and China have a broad potential to deepen ties and I hope in the near future the trade turnover between the two states will grow".
Notably, the forum was attended by representatives of 30 Azerbaijani and 20 Chinese companies, engaged in industrial sphere, construction, furniture production, trade. The aim of the event is expanding existing business ties and establishing new relations.
