BP restores production at Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli field

BP, the operator of Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli production in Azerbaijan, has attained a production of 900 thousand barrels of oil per day, which are equal to volumes produced before the suspension of the Central Azeri platform in last September, said a sources in the oil industry in Azerbaijan.

Production from the fields has increased slightly by the start of almost all (11 out of 12) wells in the Central Azeri field.

Since autumn, the last year production at the fields has declined. on September 17 BP, the operator of Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli fields development suspended oil production at the Central Azeri and evacuated staff due to gas outburst detected near the platform.

In 2008, the Azerbaijani fields Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli in the Caspian Sea produced approximately 34 million tons of Azeri Light crude oil. The annual average production for ACG in 2008 amounted to 688.5 thousand barrels.

ACG oil fields produce class Azeri Light, exported by the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and Baku-Supsa pipelines.
