Turkish expert: "Azerbaijan is currently the only gas supplier for Nabucco"

04 February 2009 [11:40] - TODAY.AZ
Expert of the International energy agency and organization for economic cooperation and development Mehmeh Ogutchu is skeptical about the implementation of the Nabucco gas pipeline.
According to Turkish ANKA, currently the only supplier of natural gas for this project is Azerbaijan.

"Azerbaijan can provide only 8-9 bln cubic meters of gas. Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Iraq and Egypt are unable to ensure gas to Nabucco. These countries have no sufficient gas reserves and no legal agreements on transit", announced he.

Notably, the construction of the Nabucco gas pipeline, proposed to pass Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Austria and probably, Germany, is planned to start in late 2010 and complete in 2013.
