Estonian President: "Azerbaijan plays an important role in energy supply of Europe"

President of Estonia Toomas Hendrik Ilves who is on an official visit in Azerbaijan on January 14 met the Azerbaijani Minister of Industry and Energy Natig Aliyev.
Mr. Elvis underlined that the government of Estonia keens to cooperate with Azerbaijan in the fields of economy, energy and information-communication technologies. Estonia attaches high significance to issues linked to Europe`s energy security, said President. He emphasized that Azerbaijan plays an important role in energy supply of Europe. Head of Estonia noted that his country is a friend and partner of Azerbaijan in the European Union. He stressed the necessity of diversification of energy supplies adding "we consider Azerbaijan as an important participant in this issue".

Mr. Aliyev gave detailed information about the country`s energy potential, projects in production and export of the energy carriers of Azerbaijan`s sector on the Caspian. Minister stressed the successful development of Azerbaijan-Estonian bilateral relations. He underlined that the government of Azerbaijan keens on delivery natural energy resources to the world markets and gas purchase by the European countries. The sides also stressed significance of the Nabucco project to provide the Europe with natural gas.
