WB: "Azerbaijan is prepared for the world financial crisis better than other countries with transition economy"

"Azerbaijan does not need help to overcome the consequences of the world financial crisis", said head of WB representative office in Azerbaijan Gregori Yeceychak in Baku today.
"Our analysis shows that compared with other countries with transition economy Azerbaijan has turned out to be better prepared to the situation in the world", he told reporters Friday.

He considers that this is explained by the lower volume of external debts of the Azerbaijani commercial banks, as well as the careful policy of the National Bank of Azerbaijan towards external monetary risks of the commercial banks. Moreover, the reserves of Azerbaijan, including the National Bank and the reserves of the State Oil Fund, are sufficient for financing of external credits.

"Therefore, I consider that it is early to speak of any assistance of WB or International Monetary Fund to Azerbaijan, as there is no need for it
