Ministerial conference on Central-Asian regional economic cooperation starts in Baku

The seventh ministerial conference on Central-Asian regional economic cooperation (CAREC) has kicked off in Baku.
ADB president Haruhiko Kuroda said in his speech that adoption of several documents - Strategy of regional cooperation of CAREC countries in the energy sector, Strategic plan of actions on trade policy for CAREC programs and so on are expected to be adopted during it.

He said in the CAREC framework $5 bln is allocated for development of transport sphere, while by 2020 there are plans to invest $14 bln on priority investment projects for improvement of 6 transport corridors of the organization member-states.

Kuroda said as regards the cooperation in energy sphere that the priority issue is production, distribution and sale of energy sources, while in the sphere of customs is creation of a single window.

Moreover, it is planned to create a mechanism for development of projects, conduction of researches on environment, use of water reserves, search of sources for long-term investment and other directions.
