Disputed sections of state borders between Azerbaijan and Russia and Azerbaijan and Georgia to be discussed later this year

11 November 2008 [14:27] - TODAY.AZ
There is a plan to hold a session of the Azerbaijani-Russian and Azerbaijani-Georgian intergovernmental commission on state borders delimitation and demarcation in late November-early December, said head of the committee for land and cartography Garib Mamedov, according to Novosti-Azerbaijan.

"During the session the participants will discuss issues on the unsettled sections on the borders of Azerbaijan with Russia and Georgia", he told reporters Tuesday.

Mamedov noted that all issues were settled on the level of experts and "they will be discussed on the level of intergovernmental commissions".

"The exact date of a session is defined in diplomatic missions", he said adding that the session of the Azerbaijani-Georgian intergovernmental commission on the said issue will be held after the session of the Azerbaijani-Russian commission.

Today Azerbaijan and Russia have agreed on over 90% of their borders. The unsettled remain the sections on the bridge on the Samur river and the wood strip in Khachmaz.

Azerbaijan and Georgia have agreed on 65% of state borders, extending to 480 kilometers.
