Leakage of 7.5 tons of oil in the Derbent region of Dagestan will not cause damage to the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan, said SOCAR vice president on investments and marketing Elshad Nasirov.
"No damage will be caused to us.
Our attitude to it is unambiguous. If the leakage is on our territory, we find the responsible persons, encourage those who are not guilty, eliminate the reason of leakage and continue working.
If the leakage is on the Russian area, it has nothing to do with us as by the intergovernmental agreement between Azerbaijan and Russia we deliver oil on the border and get it from the board of the ship. Therefore, we do not lose these 7.5 tons or 7,500 tons. The operator is responsible for it", noted Nasirov.
"In case of losses on our territory we deliver the volumes equaling to our losses on the Russian borders", said SOCAR vice president.
The oil leakage occurred in the Derbent region of Dagestan, said operative agent of the Emergency Ministry on the republic.
"The leakage occurred due to the illegal connection to the mail pipeline Baku-Novorossiysk. Currently oil is not leaking from the pipe and ground clearing process is underway", said the agent.
He said the volume of the damage, caused to environment, has not been defined yet.
