"I am sure that when it is time Azerbaijan will easily stop oil and gas extraction and direct the main part of economy to the sector of services", said Azerbaijan's Economic Development Minister Heydar Babayev at the first business round table with the government of Azerbaijan "Changes for steady development", arranged by "The Economist" magazine.
He said the future of Azerbaijani economy is connected with services, including in transport, energy and tourist spheres. "We continue working for improvement of the business climate in the country, elimination of shortcomings in this sphere to improve the investment attractiveness of the country", noted Babayev.
Notably, the round table aims at improving the dialogue of the business structures with government circles and holding debates regarding political plans on Azerbaijan's economy.
The round table participants discussed priorities of the government for 2008-2008, governmental plans regarding the period "after oil", improvement of transparency and role of private sector in creating job opportunities and so on.
