Iranian deputy foreign minister: "Iranian side is against laying a pipeline by the Caspian floor"

Iranian side is against laying pipelines by the Caspian floor, as it can "cause damage to the ecology of the sea", said Deputy Iranian Foreign Minister Mehti Safari, according to Novosti-Azerbaijan.
The diplomat stressed existence of the Iranian and Russian routes of energy sources transportation.

"If there are such opportunities, why cause damage to ecology", said he.

Safari highly appreciated adoption of the Convention of Ecological State of the Caspian Sea.
