04 September 2008 [15:32] - TODAY.AZ
The commodity turnover between Ukraine and Azerbaijan will reach $1 bln in the next few years, said Ukranian ambassador to Azerbaijan Boris Klimchik, according to Novosti-Azerbaijan.
"Ilham Aliyev and Viktor Yushchenko has set a task of bringing the commodity turnover between our countries in the next few years and perhaps in the nearest future to the level of $1 bln. I think this is a real figure. Existing potential between our countries allows to fulfill this task", said Klimchuk.

"In the first half of the year the commodity turnover between Ukraine and Azerbaijan reached a record level of $486,200,000", said Klimchuk, adding that it is almost 1.8 times higher, as compared to the same period of the last year.

"Last year this figure amounted to $279,000,000 in the first half and $494,800,000 through the whole 2007. I would like to note that in 2006 the commodity turnover between Ukraine and Azerbaijan made $335,000,000", said the diplomat.

According to Klimchuk, positive rate and positive rise in the commodity turnover is observed between the two countries by results of the first half.

The ambassador noted that if by 2008 the positive balance in the commodity turnover was in Ukraine's favor, beginning with this year, the rise in the balance of the commodity turnover in Azerbaijan's direction is observed beginning from this year.
